Merlin Langel and Päivi Itkonen,
whose shared vision combines modern operational leadership with decades of clinical-research expertise.

Together, they lead a growing team and partner network across Europe and emerging markets, ensuring that every project benefits from strategic oversight, scientific integrity, and regional insight.

Founder, Lanmer CRO OÜ | Executive MBA (2026), BSc (Engineering)

Merlin oversees the day-to-day management and strategic operations of Lanmer CRO.
With more than 17 years of experience in clinical research and regulatory affairs, she has directed phase I–IV pharmaceutical and medical-device trials across the EU, Nordics, and Balkans, working through and alongside leading global CROs such as ICON plc, Optimapharm, Comac Medical, and Crown CRO.

Throughout her career, she has collaborated on studies for many of the world’s largest Sponsors and CRO networks — including PPD (through Crown CRO and Optimapharm) — gaining deep familiarity with global quality systems, regulatory pathways, and sponsor expectations.

Her expertise spans EU CTR/CTIS submissions, MDR/IVDR compliance, and ISO-based quality-system development.
Merlin combines strategic foresight with hands-on operational leadership, ensuring that every Lanmer CRO project meets the highest standards of compliance, efficiency, and scientific rigor.

MSc (Chemical Engineering), BSc (Pharmacy)

Päivi is an accomplished clinical-research executive with more than 30 years of experience across the Nordic and Baltic regions.
Her career began at the Finnish National Board of Patents and Registration and advanced through senior roles at Hoechst and Quintiles, where she served as Director of Clinical Research for the Nordics and Baltics.

In 2005, she founded Crown CRO Oy, leading the company as CEO and Board Member for over 16 years before its acquisition by Optimapharm.
At Lanmer CRO, Päivi focuses on strategic consultation, operational development, and mentoring, ensuring that the company’s processes and partnerships meet the highest standards of quality, reliability, and professionalism.
